Sign Painters have relied on different masking techniques since they picked up thier first brush. Masking tape was used on walls, liquid maskings dried & cut, even protective papers on acrylics were cut & sprayed.
Today we work with specialized maskings that are cut by plotters. The masking is easily shaped to it's surface and ready for a variety of paint applications. While mostly enamel paints are used latex paints for interior or exterior walls create detailed branding work.
Low or Zero VOC latex paints are great for interior offices or reception rooms.
What is sign Masking
Sign Painting is just that, signs with paint. A brush and paint are used to make your sign. Brushes or “Lettering Quills” containing natural fibres allow lettering to be created fairly quickly. Specially designed “Lettering Enamels” or paint are mixed to perfection with very opaque and durable results. Paints are also mixable to any shade.

Why Paint?
Sign painting can offer great looking durable signs to surfaces that vinyl can not be applied too. Unlike vinyl signs, paint does not crack, shrink or peel off. Painted signs can have a much longer life span than vinyl.
Where can I learn more about sign Masking
Check out our YouTube channel to learn more. Watch closely and see how we use a sign writing quill and lettering enamels or even sign masking to generate logos, messages and designs on reception walls and wood, glass or metal signs.
Do I need a Sign Permit?
Maybe, most signs need a permit for the municipality in which you live or operate. The application process is the responsibility of the property owner and we do not include this in our services. We can however supply electronic copies of signage size and design for your convience. The permit process usually controls location, size, copy and a safe installation in terms of public safety. Generally speaking some temporary signs such as realty signs or auto signs do not need a permit. You also probably dont need a permit to put the hours of operation on your door. Painted signs on existing surfaces are also usually exempt from permit fees although copy restrictions may or may not apply. Non-profit organizations can usually apply for fee reductions. Be sure to read your local sign bylaws and ask for advice from your city, or regional office, when unsure.
